I’ve heard all my adult life that I missed my calling and should have been a chef! So, one day I decided to do something about it and enrolled in culinary school! I really didn’t know if I had what it took to finish, but I thought, “What the heck?”. Two years later, much to my surprise, I graduated with a culinary arts degree in hand and absolutely no idea what to do next.
I was too old to start working in a restaurant, that’s for someone much younger! I didn’t have the money to start a restaurant, although, I do think I would be very good at it. So, I decided to start my own company and teach cooking classes in my neighborhood. ChefAbilities was born! Get it? Chef + Ability – I help you with the ability to become a really good home chef! The classes were a success! I also have a Facebook page, I’m on Instagram and I’m currently putting together a cookbook! Who knows where this will all go, if anywhere? But, if I help a few good folks cook some good healthy stick to your ribs food and have fun doing it, then I guess my work is done.
Now, you’re not going to find some teeny, tiny, fancy food on this blog. No siree! I don’t like to eat like that and I’m pretty sure most people don’t like to either! Besides that, I’m from Texas and, well, you know, we have a reputation down here of everything being big! So, yeah, we eat big, too!
In all seriousness, what you’ll find here is minimally processed, fairly easy, straightforward, delicious food and some helpful tips that I can hopefully make entertaining with a little Texas humor and regional colloquialism that’ll tickle your funny bone and keep you coming back for more!
